Scouring the waiver wires...
The Scorpions picked up Jeff Genovy off waivers today. Sounds like yet another good find, a very good character guy who's going to take care of a lot of the intangibles. Suddenly the Scorps are pretty stacked at center

Alex, so what is the "lowdown" on this guy? I know he was with the Bucks, but not much else.
Well I could've told you a few things yesterday, but as I cited in a more recent post, Genovy opted to play in the SPHL -- Huntsville I believe. I can tell you that he's a good two-way forward who I could definitely see as a pivot-man for the Scorps' checking line. In the meantime, Murphy's got some new college guys to tinker with
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Alex Mansfield. I have frequented the Scorpions boards as the "collegekid" and, in my mercurial younger days, as "box23." For a little better than a year, I worked as the Albuquerque Tribune's beat reporter for the Scorpions -- unfortunately, that gig came to an abrupt end when the Tribune closed this past spring. That job was an experience that I would give anything to still have with me today, but anyone who works in print media right now knows these troubled times all too well. In the interim, I have worked as a photographer for the Scorpions and plan on writing (and hopefully shooting) for The Hockey News in Toronto this summer
